HOME IMPROVEMENTS JOINERY GUIDE
Our Guide to Joinery
One of the best things about being involved in building is doing joinery, ever since I was a small child I would help my father do all sort of Joinery and carpentry jobs, they ranged from building wardrobes to great big garages.
The tools back then were much the same as they are now, but with modern machinery all of which is portable, the modern day joiner can handle a wider range of tasks on site instead of the workshop. There is a huge distinct difference between DIY and professional machinery used by joiners today, with the best makes being Festool made in Germany, the quality of the tools has a serious impact on the final quality of the finished job and any mess created while its being done, which is really important to ours and our client’s health. There is a difference between carpenters and joiners, in my eyes the carpenters handle all the general site work such stud walls, concreate form work and installing timber frames and roofs which is no mean feat in itself high up on a roof with the wind blowing. They also carry out a wide range of outdoor work such as decks and garages. While the joiners tackle all the finishing jobs, such as fitting skirting and architraves, hanging doors, building staircases, fitting furniture and installing kitchens and engineered flooring, |
Joiners also fit windows and the seals, timber panelling and build any bespoke items that you require. Out of all the trades on site, joiners are one of the most respected, this is because, it is their job at the second fix stage to do all those finishing jobs that brings any project together, and ensures that the finished quality is maintained throughout.
Good joiners are always in demand so do not be surprised if you have to book them well in advance and wait for their arrival. We have completed a lot of outdoor carpentry projects over the years, from large bespoke play structures and aviaries to outdoor entertaining and recycling areas, our clients generally leave the design work to us, and once agreed, we it built.
Some of the projects have been really unique and taken a great deal of work to achieve. I have included within our landscaping & garden gallery a sample of the work we have done that includes any hard and soft landscaping as required. If you have an outdoor project you would like us to look at, get in touch we would love to hear from you.
